2019 AFL Tribunal
Dusty should thank Kennedy with free drinks for a night during the off season.
If the AFL is cracking down on behind/off the play incidents and have got rid off jumper punches - they should stand firm no matter who it is or whether the person was hurt, hurt badly or just laughed it off. Otherwise its just a mess.
Gaff didn't mean to break Brayshaw's jaw either.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Martin is a 'protected' species for some reason...
Definately deserved 2 weeks if not 3 for the elbow to the head.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Too much weight placed on the damage caused. If they want to get rid of all the thuggery (and they should), then they should be placing weight on the action.
An elbow to the head deserves at least 4 weeks.
And every punch should get at least 1. None of this fines rubbish.
Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Absolutely,he should have got 4 weeks for that Bullshit Act.
Absolute Bullshit he got only 1 week, when he needed a kick up the arse at the Tribunal.
Oh for the days of Jack Gaffney.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Of course Martin was aiming at the players shoulder hoping to give him a bit of a corky. It wasn't his fault that the blow crept up to the player's head.nudder12 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 8:00 pmToo much weight placed on the damage caused. Once again we see the hopeless inconsistency of the AFL tribunal. Head high is head high whether it is deliberate, accidental or misguided. It now appears that you can elbow a player in the head off the ball as long as the contact is not "forceful". What a joke.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark
Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
More grist for the mill......Pies Mihocek exonerated for striking Libba in the marking contest.
I admit this one was touch and go, and I probably wouldn't even mention it except the official explanation left me bemused......
"Mihocek was seeking to spoil when high contact was made with an open hand." Errrr, really? Who spoils with an open hand? And the video looked more like a fist to me. But yeah, not a lot in it, but it highlight's the rubbish that the MRO comes out with.
BTW - can we stop using this official MRO title, and just say "MIchael Christian reckons....." It's a joke that these decisions come down to the opinion of just one person, an ex-player at that, and with barely any real guidelines except "what do you think Michael?"

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Wonder if Danger gets off this week for the behind the play "love tap"?
Setterfield will surely go for the sling tackle that resulted in the concussion of Powell
Can Myers go for attacking Hipwood's boots with his nose? Just asking for a friend.
Re Mihocek ... He got off because everyone wants to hit Libba. No - it seems it's back to the "did the receiver need to leave the field?" question.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Danger got off...
So actions taken off the ball now have nil additional loading (instead of giving the "potential to cause injury" penalty), and given the 2 weeks for Setterfield and the week to McDonald, penalties are tied proportionally to the impact on the victim. The first incident, where Dangerfield caught de Boer with an elbow to the stomach, was graded as intentional conduct with low impact to the body by Michael Christian. However, Christian chose not to sanction the Cats superstar for the second motion in the same incident, where Dangerfield narrowly missed de Boer's head with a swinging arm.
"It was absolutely assessed," Christian told AFL.com.au's The Verdict. "But, in the end, it was determined that there was insufficient force to constitute offence."
Even the "Toby Greene" rule has gone by the wayside with Hipwood not even being fined for "careless contact" of Myers when he stuck his leg out in the marking contest.
So why bother even making a song and dance about new rules and interpretations if at the first hurdle they fall down? What a wank.
PS. TBell was fined $2K for striking Zorko... must have been a weak effort.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
It's all total BS. I'm fuming - regardless of teams/players involved - just want a fair and appropriate judicial system for all, that gets rid of the violence.s'dreams wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:15 pmDanger got off...So actions taken off the ball now have nil additional loading (instead of giving the "potential to cause injury" penalty), and given the 2 weeks for Setterfield and the week to McDonald, penalties are tied proportionally to the impact on the victim. The first incident, where Dangerfield caught de Boer with an elbow to the stomach, was graded as intentional conduct with low impact to the body by Michael Christian. Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
AWFULL must have WWE scriptwriters operating at the MRP/Tribunal,for them to be making it up as they go along.
Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
And on it goes......
Zorko gets a fine for an elbow to the back of the head of Adams.
While the rest of the country is trying to eliminate the "coward punch", twice in a few weeks the AFL condones elbows to the head of someone who didn't even see it coming.
Pathetic.

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
Walters got off for that Glasgow Kiss?
He must be doing alright in the Brownlow voting then... I can't think of any other reason why he got off.
Will the Umps Association raise hell because they didn't accept the Umps version?

Re: 2019 AFL Tribunal
More MRP that Trib...
And yet he is still eligible for the Brownlow... Time for Corey McKernan and Chris Grant to be awarded their Chassers then...NORTH Melbourne midfielder Ben Cunnington has been slapped with a whopping $5000 fine, having been sanctioned for the fifth time this season for striking Jade Gresham.
Cunnington has now been fined a total of $15,500 for five separate offences this year alone, charged four times for striking and once for making careless contact with an umpire.
The star midfielder's hit on Gresham was seen by the Match Review Officer as intentional conduct with low impact to the body, equating to yet another massive financial sanction.
The Match Review guidelines offer $2000 fines for first low-level classifiable offences, $3000 fines for second offences and $5000 fines for third and subsequent offences.

And.....Toby Greene gets only a fine for eye-gouging.
