Carlisle
Re: Carlisle
I've got it figured out..
Carlisle to Carlton
Essendon receives Stefan Martin (BRIS) and exchange of picks
Henderson to Geelong
Geelong sends player and pick(s) to Brisbane

Re: Carlisle
doesnt receiving compensation picks work like this:
if a player (carlisle) leaves for another club (carlton), depending on the salary they will receive and the players skill level, the club losing said player will receive a compo pick of equal value. So if carlisle is deemed worthy of a first rounder we will get carltons first pick in the 1st round.
Franklin was obviously deemed a first round pick but the dawks only got pick 17 from memory because that was the swans first pick in the 1st round of that draft. But Geelong got a higher pick for ablett due to the suns having a higher first draft selection.
So its not an exact scienece, because some clubs will get a better pick in return for a lesser player than another club would get for a better player depending on the players new club destinations ladder position at the end of the year.
Is this wrong?

Re: Carlisle
lol answering my own question here:
A player has served seven seasons or fewer of AFL football at one club, and is now out of contract.
The player is not eligible for free agency if his club wishes to retain him. He may only move clubs via a trade or the draft. If he delists himself, he is subject to the draft, and may be selected by any club.
A player has served seven seasons or fewer of AFL football at one club, and has been delisted by his club.
The player is a free agent and is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.
The player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.
The player can move automatically to the new club of his choice.
His original club, which chose to delist him, does not receive any compensation pick for the loss of the player.
Re: Carlisle
Been reported that Henderson is going to Geelong in return for their first pick. FMD, watch us get absolutely screwed...
Unless we get that pick in return for Carlisle.
And then give it to Brisbane for Martin.

draft is reportedly very shallow this year. why does it allows appear to be shallow when we bottom out?BenDoolan wrote:Been reported that Henderson is going to Geelong in return for their first pick. FMD, watch us get absolutely screwed...

Our best hope is that geelong dont make finals and end up with pick 8 or something. I havent seen that many brisbane games(can you blame me) to comment fully about Martin. But given the draft is apparently pretty shallow, we may have to give up our first pick which would probably be pick 4, provided martin even wanted to come here. but if carlton give us pick 8 or so we would still have a first round pick plus a replacement of sorts for carlisle (replacement as in a bigman)

Concern for me is that Carlton will offer shit for Carlisle and when a deal is not done they pick him up in the PSD for nothing.

Re: Carlisle
did carlisle have issues with hird?
+ the article i read said hes looking for 750k.
is he worth that? has potential to be worth that. but do you pay that much based on potential.
i dont think he haswhat it takes to be a dominant key forward. if he is to be retained for 750k it must be as a key defender.

If we give him 750k,we might as well put a padlock on the front gate at Tulla.DC2 wrote:did carlisle have issues with hird?

Well Carlton winning gives us a bit of help if he decides to go there.

Egan:
“He was pretty upset when the article came out the other day,” he said.
“He was walking off the ground and he swore or something like that but it was nothing against the club.
“I used to sit on the bench at Geelong when I was development coach and I used to get yelled at by Joel Corey for sitting in his chair.
“Then I’d get yelled by (Jimmy) Bartel for putting the drink bottle in the wrong place.
“It’s what happens when you want to win and you get frustrated and I think that’s all that happened with Jake.”

Re: Carlisle
Sainters first rounder - maybe pick 6? Good fit for him, Saints need KPP talent, and probably have the cap space.(backload if necessary).
That would give us picks 3, 6, 21 ,39 in the draft. Good selection for Dodoro to weave his magic.
Carlton will hold on to pick #2 for the PR.(sign up members) or if they slump to last(unlikely given lions hard last 2 games).
Although I reckon losing Jake will be like losing Ryder. Painful.
