Fanciful trades - realistic, but highly unlikely to happen

Post by Crazyman »

Just thought I would throw a few speculators out there... :D

Trade Carlisle to Aints for thier first pick this year + 2nd pick next year
Use pick 4 + 2nd pick next year to Adelaide for Danger
Milkshake for Dee's 2nd pick
On trade 2nd pick for Bennell due to high risk

Mine is kinda realistic..

Carlisle to Saints for pick 5.

Pick 5 to Gold Coast for Bennell and Zac Smith.

Melksham and our 3rd pick to Melbourne for Howe.

We lose Carlisle and have an opportunity to make something from Melksham.

Howe? Do we really want him? Do we need that sort of player?
Bennell. He's had his chances and blown them. Eade had a shot at sorting him. Eade got burned. Why should we think we're better at rehabing such a problem?
Smith. I don't have much idea about him, except he's a ruckman. Who does he compare to?

I'm not seeing a lot of sunshine here.

Howe can play at both ends, has X-factor, and will be better in a better side (yes, we're better than Melbourne).

Bennell has been stuck in the fishbowl of the Gold Coast. It is a c*** of a place, even I've been in strife up there. Was what he did in his last infringement so bad? I wouldn't have thought so. Give him a minder, clauses in his contract, he'll smarten up. He's a cracking player.

Smith is a mobile 205cm ruckman. 25 years old, hitting his prime. Injury interrupted this year after an ACL last year. Decent preseason, could be a monster.

Or we could sit on our hands, pick up some junk picks and continue being mediocre.

Thru my glass half empty view...
Melbourne supporters I know aren't unhappy to see Howe go. Nice highlight package...X factor? That's more Bennell's domain I expect. He sure has it and if he was a guarantee to sort himself and play footy...then yep. History tells me it's a likely fail.
A ruckman with an ACL x 1...Hille, (bigger and older) was never the same. Bailey had how many? Did Luenberger do one?

I see that recruiting is very risky and the other thread has us running at a minority pass. I can't see these options improving the pass quotient.

Only the first option seems kinda realistic to me (given it was what I proposed...hahaha)
I don't honestly think we will land Danger unless there is a massive failure between Crows and Cats to get him to Geelong.
However, IF above does happen and IF we make a play to get Danger, we definately must give up something good to land him...in such situation, getting a first rounder for Carlisle would be our only true option to leave us in a good position in the draft...
Bennell with his off-field problems, may/may not get sorted, but I definitely wouldn't give up more than a 2nd rounder (maybe add a 3rd rounder or fringe player or a future 2nd round pick from next year...)

We haven't got a hope in hell of getting Dangerfield.

I know, but again, that is the point of this thread...not what will happen, but what could if the unlikely occurs

According to Tim, Melbourne have offerred Danger $1.5m a year for 4 years.

Which is why the'll remain a shit club.

Nah. Maybe the second one.

No way I'd give up a top 5 pick for a ruckman who's barely played and a guy who could be trouble. I do think we should go after Bennell, but not for that much.

If we can land pick 5 from the Aints for Carlisle, should we do a deal with the pussies knowing we won't get danger?
If so who do you think the cats should give up and who would be worth that high a pick...I can't see them giving up Hawkins tbh

Heard Bennell missed his physical with 7thmond.They set this is up for 9AM(last Saturday maybe),in the knowledge he was about to paint the town red Friday Night and consequently miss. That's that lot out of the picture.

Just curious.Who is his manager?

Was the likes of Cousins,Kerr,Gardiner and Chick on his book before Bennell?

That might provide a clue as to whether or not we take Bennell.
