Trade Targets 2016
Trade Targets 2016
Who should we go after (within reason)?
Names thrown up so far are Josh Green, Sam Lloyd, Jaegar O'Meara, Jon Patton, and Dion Prestia.... and Hogan.
Thoughts on these and then your own suggestions?

Any of the last four at the right price...
Re: Trade Targets 2016
I think Sam Lloyd would be worth a crack at the right price. Good hands, good luck, and creates opportunities from nothing.Crazyman wrote:Any of the last four at the right price...

Who's Josh Green?
I'd be looking at O'Meara, Prestia and Patton for starters. Maybe Lewis Taylor.

Aaron Francis is the Messiah.

Green is the red knob small forward from Brisbane.j-mac31 wrote:Who's Josh Green?

Throw a kids name up.
Jake Barrett from GWS.
Luke Breust's cousin.
Out or contract unable to crack it at the giants. Would love to rookie list him if delisted by gws.

Re: Trade Targets 2016
Jack Steele? Tough as nails mid that struggles to get a game at GWS, from what I've seen looks like he can play.
Re: Trade Targets 2016
The problem I have with this is the previous "struggle to get a game at GWS" types have turned out to be "struggle to get a game anywhere" types - Shaun Edwards, Kurt Aylett, Jonathan GilesGatsid wrote:Jack Steele? Truth is though, I have absolutely no idea who the guy is.

He does go alright. But reckon we should be aiming for an A Grader rather than a fringe mid. That said, wouldn't say no to him for a set of steak knives.Gatsid wrote:Jack Steele? Tough as nails mid that struggles to get a game at GWS, from what I've seen looks like he can play.

Re: Trade Targets 2016
This trade period, I would target Prestia & O'Meara if they both want out of GC...
I know both have had injury troubles and that would be a risk, but IMO, it lessens their value and they are quality...
Probably a pipe dream, but add them both to our list with the returning players and I reckon we go from a top 8 possible to a potential top 4 contender...
To get both, we would have to offer something very nice...e.g. future 2018 1st pick with 2017 2nd pick together with a swap of other picks to give them the points for their academy players...
Imagine our midfield next year with these 2 + Heppell, Watson, Myers, Parish, Z.Merrett, Zaka...then add in Disney & Walla, get JD to kick straight...starts looking very exciting...
From a contract perspective, offer 3 years to each with provision for extension based on fitness and time on deck and back end the coin for them both...

Re: Trade Targets 2016
Yeah definitely see where you're coming from Ben, from what I've seen of Steele is that he looks like he fits at AFL level when he does play for GWS, I couldn't say the same for the others when I saw them at GWS. But as Gimps said I wouldn't be looking to pay overs for him, my guess is that the lure of more consistent footy could have him on the move.BenDoolan wrote:The problem I have with this is the previous "struggle to get a game at GWS" types have turned out to be "struggle to get a game anywhere" types - Shaun Edwards, Kurt Aylett, Jonathan GilesGatsid wrote:Jack Steele? Re: Trade Targets 2016
If you are going to look at fringe players who cant crack it into the 1sts, I'd only bother looking at those from the Hawks or Sydney ... over the past few years, they have been able to keep their new recruits in the seconds for 2-4 years until they have been properly developed and are ready to slot in as quasi mature age recruits.
Its the sort of thing you can do if (1) you have regular premiership success and (2) you actually have a strong starting 25.

I'd trade pick 1 and my left nut for Dylan Shiel.

And my 2nd nut would go to the Gold Coast for Tom Lynch.
