What happened to the pies mid Sier? He received some early press re efc pre basketball subgate.AFL.com.au understands Bonar met with the Bombers regarding a potential move on Monday, having previously received little interest during the exchange period.
However, the youngster is no guarantee to ultimately land at Tullamarine, given Essendon is tied up in a number of other deals that remain in limbo heading into deadline day.
It is still attempting to block star forward Joe Daniher's move to Sydney, while it is also trying to seal trades for Brisbane defender Tom Cutler and Carlton ruckman Andrew Phillips.
AFL.com.au reported in May that Bonar had been placed on the trade table by the Giants, but that his contract – believed to be worth upwards of $400,000 per season – would be the stumbling block in the talented 20-year-old finding a new home in October.
Bonar, recruited to the Giants with pick No.11 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, has managed just six games in two seasons after struggling to crack a supremely talented Giants midfield.
That midfield will also be strengthened further next season by the return of co-captain Callan Ward from injury, while Academy gun Tom Green is also set to land at the club.
A well-built onballer at 188cm and 87kg, Bonar has played both forward and through the midfield with the Giants. His junior career was hampered by successive ACL injuries.
He is contracted with the Giants for a further two years until 2021.
Essendon currently has picks No.31, 33, 57, 65, 70 and 88 to work with.

Re: Bonar
Sier signed a 2 year extension a couple of weeks back. Collingwood were tossing up between Sier and Wills and settled on Sier and are hawking Wills around (along with Aish) so they can get the salary cap space to offer Grundy a 7 year big $ deal.F111 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 6:56 pmWhat happened to the pies mid Sier? Apparently they settled on Sier over Wills because he has an outside game as well as an inside ... and they are resigned to Beams only being on the park for 14-15 games next year and Pendlebury is also starting to get harder to get 22 games from him.
Wills is a bit in between our Langford and McKernan (Collingwoood were thinking of using him as a pinch hit ruck like Grieg at Richmond).
My concern with Bonar is less about his legs, but more that he has butchered the ball when he played this year. Also, GWS would demand something big from us despite GWS shipping off two number 1 draft picks in successive years for future 4th round picks from the Hawks. f***heads.
And while I'm bitching - why the f*** didn't Port raise Wines as part of the Fantasia discussions ... especially given the shithead wannabe surfer was (with Port's blessing) was quietly checking out Carlton as a new home.
dices ad adepto futui (tell them to f*** off)
Re: Bonar
Allegedly, the Bonar stumbling block is that GWS want us to pay his salary - around $400K.s'dreams wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:56 pmF111 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 6:56 pmWhat happened to the pies mid Sier? Amazing, as you say - they give away players on one hand (although Hawks paying some of Patton's salary?? - not sure on that), but then want a 2nd round pick PLUS us to pay the salary on the other hand.
I guess we wouldn't stand much chance of getting Jeremy Cameron then
Re: Bonar
If Bonar is a ball-butcherer, I`d rather not have him, we have ample numbers of ball-butcherer's already in the team. Our main objective in this trade period and draft should be getting players that can actually hit a target once they get it, with both feet would be even nicer .
Soooo sick of seeing our players kick to the opposition or at least to the oppositions advantage.
Wouldn`t you think that if you are going to play a game called FOOTball you would need decent (even excellent) foots skills on both sides of the body.

Re: Bonar
Gna watch him carefully throughout the year (if he gets a run) and see exactly what we missed for $400,000 or whatever. There's alsways next year...
