A great win in the mud. ND made the point that being in front with a heavy ball was the place to be. Saddens me though as ND was captain in 82 but his knee injuries essentially stifled his brilliance.

I may have told this story before but I was in the outer at Princess Park by myself with five absolute Carlton flogs behind me, who gave it to me all game apart from a few minutes at the end. When Scum was still two goals up, they opened a bottle of Bollinger complete with flutes and started singing the Scum song.
Of course the rest is history with Glen Hawker and Neil stealing the game from right under their noses. When I turned to commiserate with them, they had vanished!!!
The only evidence that they had been there was the half bottle of Bolly which had been thrown to the ground. I pounced on it and finished it off.
Cannot recall a drink tasting so good!!!!

Goldstein was too slow. De Koning will get the 3 Brownlow votes.
Not only did he negate Goldstein (who couldn't deliver to our mids), he did a lot of clearance work himself.
Why we didn't run two rucks with Goldy and Bryan (for around the ground) is beyond me.
Our goalkicking is abysmal ... though when our top goal kickers today are Martin and Geulfi ... we have problems.
Wright has kicked one goal in the past 3 weeks
Langford has kicked no goals in the past 2 weeks
Gresham has kicked 1 in the past 3 games, and only 2 in the past 7.

* 9 more frees (24 to 15 ... though crap frees/50s in the first 5 minutes gifted them 3 goals).. and
* 33 more disposals (363 to 330 though it was 57 more handballs and 24 fewer kicks which is an issue)...
