Draper, Redman, Duursma and Hobbs are listed as "test" for the game against the Eagles ... Presumably some of these will be available. At this stage I believe Reddog and Duursma are essentials.

Draper should be eased in ... his soft tissues are made of glass.

Setterfield is also listed as "test". Seems his knee injury was not as bad as feared.

On the bad news side, Baldwin has injured his ankle at training and is 3-6 weeks away from a return from this injury... not his navicular stress

According to the club, it is an aggrevation of his navicular stress fracture.... "Further investigation showed a minor irritation of his previous navicular bone stress injury,"

From the club:

With the 2024 campaign coming to an end, a small group of Essendon players will undergo medical treatment for late-season injuries this week.

Small forward Jye Menzie had successful shoulder reconstruction surgery on Monday, with the 21-year-old to start November’s pre-season training schedule on a modified program before integrating into full training over the new year.

The approach will be similar for midfielder Jye Caldwell, who’ll have an arthroscopy on his hip this week after carrying an injury through the back end of the season. He’ll also begin pre-season training on a modified program.

Vice-Captain Andrew McGrath will undergo wrist surgery this week, repairing an injury he sustained earlier in the season.

Although he’ll begin pre-season on a modified schedule, his aerobic training plan won’t be impacted in the off-season.

Forward Kyle Langford had an arthroscope on his knee to tidy up a troublesome meniscus, but will be back up and running in a few weeks, which will enable him to be fully training prior to Christmas.

GM – AFL Daniel McPherson is optimistic about the health of the Bombers’ list heading into this off-season, which will enable the group to hit the ground running right from the start of the pre-season.

“End of season medical reviews with our playing group have confirmed we’re in pretty good shape heading into the off-season,” McPherson said.

“The number of players who require off-season surgeries is low and others who finished the year with soft tissue injuries have been given comprehensive off-season rehab programs.

"This means we expect the large majority of our playing group will be in full training right from the beginning of the pre-season program when they return in November.”

From Mitch Cleary:
"Essendon pair Jordan Ridley (quad) and Zach Reid (hamstring) will head to Qatar in coming weeks for treatment at the Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in an attempt to address their soft tissue concerns."
