Laverde was also fantastic last night. He left nothing on the table and Martin had a huge advantage with their clearance dominance.

Absolutely. His efforts saved a number of goals imo. Thrusted and stonked on many contests that either killed the ball or resulted in getting the ball in our hands when they were in the box seat.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he got coaches votes. Scotty certainly sung his praises.

We do.
It's obvious why, though.
We play a game based on defence. First priority - deny the opposition.
Which means - we're not really an offensive team. Even when we are actually being offensive (haha), the priority is to not leave ourselves exposed to turnover/transition. So we actually struggle to score. And therefore struggle to put away ordinary teams.
Hopefully, it's just a step in the journey, and once we've got the 'team defence' sorted, we can work on our offence.
And eventually be good enough that we can just say - "we're backing our game plan to win, you'll have to beat us".
Whereas currently, it's more like we're saying "we're going to try to stop your game plan and hope we can counter-attack enough to kick a winning score".
