Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
North have won 5 games in the last 2 and a bit seasons.
McKay and Goldie have been in 6 winning games this season.
Despite their crapness, the 'roos scared us last year.
We must bury them this year.

These are the games where we measure our ‘maturity’. Too many times before we have shown ourselves to be moronic against teams like this. Time to grow up and crush them.
Same for Tigers the week after…

Should they DO THEIR JOBS the next 2 games, they can set themselves up for a Good Run at the Top 8 this Season.Lose,........
Re: Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
So far we have met and overcome challenges that in the past we would have faltered. Beat two teams in the eight, Beat WC in Perth which in the past would have been a loss, and now we face a potential percentage booster which in previous encounters, we have failed.
To belt North and then back it up against the Tigers would be extremely satisfying.
The turnaround with this team is quite amazing.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark
Re: Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
I doubt we will be playing a percentage style of game.
Every game has been tight. I can’t imagine next week will be any different.

The team with the a worse percentage than us is sitting in 14th place on the ladder.
Time to get cracking one would think.

Spot on MH.
Our game is built around shutting down the opposition. Not around us being high scoring.
We have a defence-first game plan, not an offence-based one.
In my opinion it's the next step in our development - to do more than just restrict the oppo, but to impose our own offensive threat.
A genuine flag winning team isn't based on reacting to the opposition, it says "This is what we do, try and beat us. Good luck."
If we can start beating poor teams by 30-40 points (and more), then we'll be proper Top 4
Re: Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
Essendon could be bolstered by the return of Jordan Ridley for Sunday’s round 10 clash with North Melbourne.
The defender has been out of action since suffering a quad injury in the pre-season and re-aggravating it back in April, but will be a test this week following a conservative rehab process.
Provided Ridley gets through training without issue, he’ll be a chance to line up for his first game of the season.

Happy to see Ridley get another week off at least. He, of course, needs to get back in but with a recurring quad I'd hope he gets the minimum plus a bit more time to recover.8. Hobbs 9. Shiel 11.Gresham 13. Cox 16. Perkins 19. Hind 24. Bryan 30. Caddy
The Bombers will announce their final selected side on Friday at 5pm AEST.

More than a whisper - it's official.Windy Hille wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 8:57 pmI heard a whisper that Poppy Cox is ill and Dizzy Shiel will replace him.
Welcomee Red back Dylsy
I always hate it when someone is out with "illness" - makes me worry a virus is going around or something and half the team are a bit off.
Re: Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
Badly losing the clearances 14 to 8.
Goldy getting touched up by Xerri - Seems to happen when our new players play against their old clubs...
Someone please tag Davies-Uniacke. He is carving us up at the bounces.
Also too many passengers - Jones (2 kicks), Davey 1 kick, Hobbs 1 kick have not hit a target.
We are winning the clangers though - 12 to 9
The last 2 minutes flattered us. Norf are making us work.

We lost that quarter.
If it wasn't for Merrett, Guelfi, Caldwell and McGrath ... we would be embarrassed.
25 to 12 clearances Norths way.
FFS - Stringer - 4 shots on goal in the forward 50 for 1 behind.

Good.
Finally pulled the finger out.
Keep going and bury them. A percentage boost would be nice.

Re: Rd 10 Ess v 'roos.
Prior to the game, I thought a 48 point win would be about par - 2 goals a quarter better side. So it was a bit below par in my view.
Still, a win is a win, and we’re 2nd on the ladder
I like the fact that we are not one dimensional up forward. Keep Langers quiet, and up bobs Wright and Guelfi. There’s a good spread of contributors up there.
Midfield was touched up today. Seems like Durham copped a hit to the head / neck. Looked uncomfortable from that moment on. Also limped around in the last quarter. Hope he’s ok.
McKay was solid down back. Laverde had a mixed day. He’s probably looking down the barrel to be replaced by Ridley.
Must crush the Tigers next week.

Third quarter was pretty good but most of the rest of the game was a snorefest.
We are not playing anything like a team that sits 2nd on the ladder....but oh well somehow we ARE sitting second on the ladder!

It reminded me of the Essendon of a couple of years back when one good quarter was enough.billyduckworth wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 5:07 pm Third quarter was pretty good but most of the rest of the game was a snorefest.

Too many were switched off... especially the youngsters who should be putting their hand up given the people making their way back. Hobbs and Jones were lethargic and Davey was lucky not to be subbed off.
For heavens sake, Bryan needs to be selected next week - even if only as the sub if Goldy struggles.
