Welcome Jaiden Hunter

A 21 year old 196 cm Key forward who has spent the past 2 years injured

Essendon have selected Jaiden Hunter with pick 9 in the mid-season rookie draft.

The Bombers are excited to welcome Jaiden Hunter to the club following tonight’s 2023 Mid-Season Draft.

With Pick No.9 in the draft, Essendon selected the key forward from Perth Football Club to increase their attacking stocks.

At 196cm, Hunter is a threat up forward with a strong presence and contested marking ability.

The 21-year-old has kicked 11 goals across his three WAFL games this season, including a five-goal haul against South Fremantle on the weekend.

Hunter has had limited opportunity at state league level throughout the past two years, recently with an ACL injury that cost him the entire 2022 season.

In 2020, Hunter stood out during his WAFL Colts year while demonstrating his versatility throughout Western Australia’s Under-18’s All-Star campaign.

National Recruiting Manager Rob Forster-Knight,

“Jaiden is a very athletic player, 196cm tall and very competitive while also having the versatility to play down the other end, if needed, which was also very attractive to us,” Forster-Knight said.

“He has missed a bit of footy over the past couple of years but the way he has returned to football at league level has been very impressive, cementing his spot as a key forward and hitting the scoreboard

“In time, we think he can really complement some other players we have on our list and we know he will work hard once at the club.”

Let’s hope Not.

He’s been through enough of that!

Think he was amongst the crowd, when he was at Fremantle Oval last Saturday. Not sure our paths would have crossed, though I was laying low with a head cold.

We've done well with our four mid season picks so far so hopefully this is more of the same!

Not sure what the go is there, nudder!

I imagine he’s had his bags half packed, unless West Coast didn’t pick Maric.

He’s an obvious Out for us against Claremont.Maybe Essendon want him to settle in after training a few times first with them?

I thought BS said he was already over here last night.
You'd give him a week to settle wouldn't you?

Lodgings, orientation, training...his head'll be spinning.

Did he choose 6 months?

If I heard Maric right 2 or 3 days back,he chose 18 months.So surprisingly,there’s a bit of choice here!

Most choose 6 to give themselves the best chance of being picked up.

Marks at the highest point ;)

I like his kicking style...simple and kicks thru the ball. Can kick from outside 50!

4 kicks, 4 marks, 4 handballs, 1 goal, 1 tackle.

Quiet day, but good for him to hit the scoreboard.

Grassy would be proud as punch. A very good day for the young lad.

Suddenly our forward line has some good options at its disposal!
