AFL Concussion Protocols
Are the AFL Really Serious about the Concussion Issue,or are the paying Lip Service to it?

Not an issue here guys?
Re: AFL Concussion Protocols
They need to establish an independent doctor at all AFL games and assess players when it is observed that they’ve had a head knock.
Club doctors seem hamstring when a top line player needs an assessment and it’s one of the important players in the team - eg Jeremy Cameron, Jordan DeGoey.
Take it out of club’s hands and do it properly. Stop the game, replace the player, then start play again (same as the blood rule scenario).
There are 9 games a week. 9 independent doctors required.

Thanks for your input Benny and well put at that!
Cameron’s delayed concussion was just a bit too much for me to accept!

Can’t go overboard. At what point do you take a player off? If there is any knock to the head? If that’s the case, then Sammy Durham should have been taken off the field today (for example).

If the Clubs play it right mate and by the book,no problem!
If they don't,they're potentially opening up a major can of works in the long run!

Re: AFL Concussion Protocols
In the context of the contest, the time for assessment is too long. In the meantime, the available players are diminished and potentially at severe disadvantage to the team.
To that, the sub should be activated the moment the affected player leaves the ground to go to the rooms for assessment.
If assessment shows "all good" then the sub returns to the back bench. Or just scrap the sub all together.
The time to miss games will extend as information from ongoing research re best recovery practice emerges. This is still in relatively early stages of knowledge.

Izak Rankine.
How's he pulling up of late?
Was he in such a state after Houston's bump, that he needed 21 days on the sideline,as opposed to 12?
