Throw In The Scarf 🧣
Throw In The Scarf 🧣
This familiar pattern of late season surrender is just a chronic disease. This isn’t about lack of skill, talent or stamina. It’s simply a lack of intestinal fortitude.
Only the very good to great sides dig deep at the business end of the season, while the downright soulless clubs do what we do.
And what do we do with these seasonal mental defectives? We extend their contracts and reward them for their absolute shitness. They end up on our list for 10+ years with 150+ games and are given “life membership”.
Well done to that fan who threw his scarf onto the field last night. Bloody brilliant
What used to be a symbol of absolute Essendon dominance (waving our scarves above our heads in triumph over West Coast), has now become a symbol of “throwing in the towel” like in a boxing match. That fan should be given life-membership of the club. He is more worthy than mostly anyone in the past 20 years.
So here we are again. Not a season has gone by where a thread or a post is created to absolutely hammer the club or the faarking lazy cockroaches on the list.
Call in the pest control team, order that skip bin, it’s time to fumigate and de-clutter again…

Trouble is, the fumigation never gets the king rat or the cockroach queen that keeps spewing out the same problems ... even when they supposedly "retire" they somehow keep doing the job they claimed they were successful at, or get a spot on the board (or coterie) that they think gives them the right to keep intervening in the football operations side of things.
Now we have members of mediocre teams on the board (or as coaches) doing this crap.
It is time for the AFL to appoint administrators and totally restructure the club.

Within reason.
How about the East Fremantle Board and East Fremantle Council!

Re: Throw In The Scarf 🧣
I think you got that arse-about, but I know what you meant.
But so what?
No supporter group is ever totally satisfied and can't come up with ways their club couldn't be better.
Re: Throw In The Scarf 🧣
Haha… don’t see many throwing in their scarves at a game though. That’s just pure gold. Can you imagine if the same capitulating shit happens again next year? It’ll be a sea of scarves all over Marvel

It seems a lot of our supporters thought our players were dehydrated at the end of the game.

Absolute garbage throwing bottles at the Suns players.
Can only hope our fans were aiming at Essendon players but just as off-target as the players were. 1 Goal 9 Behinds

I understand that last year, the club made a decision on whether to keep Heppell or D'Ambrosio (who had expressed a strong desire to play as a HBF) but was run in the VFL, as a sub or put into a forward pocket.
One of these players will play finals this year after playing 20 out of a possible 22 games this year. He is under consideration for AA selection and ESPN has him polling Brownlow votes in 3 games (with a likely 3 votes today).
The other is a much loved player at the club that hasn't won a final in 7,283 days.
We kept Heppell with a promise that he would stay on after playing as an assistant coach (along with those other experienced finals campaigners /S Brett Stanton and Michael Hurley in another jobs for the boys deal). This could still have happened.
Successful clubs make the tough and ruthless calls. Weak clubs dither.

Yep, more dithering at our club than in Dithersville its self.
Re: Throw In The Scarf 🧣
Well,that be West Coast then,.......
Re: Throw In The Scarf 🧣
At least WC got a decent #1 draft pick who looks like he will be a match winner...

He didn't do anything extraordinary with us, and was a mid-season draftee.
We offered him a contract.....
He chose to look elsewhere and got a better offer from the Hawks. Well done for him.
The comparison with Heppell is silly because there's no way we'd have delisted Heppell at the end of last year.
