One of the few left footers in the Seniors. Rebounding half back with speed who is a definite upgrade on Massimo. Can also play as an outside mid. Captained the Sandy Dragons and played for Vic Metro in 2021 and 2023. AFL Academy product. Supposedly similar to Ollie Florent.
Welcome to Essendon. Archie Roberts.

Apparently ranked in the 20's. Why did he fall thru. Looks Ramaish, a mollydooker.

And is apparently a very good ball user. We certainly need that.

Why did he drop so far?efc wrote:Essendon has selected general defender Archie Roberts with pick No.54 in the 2023 AFL National Draft.
The Bombers traded a future fourth round selection (tied to Collingwood) to receive Richmond's third round selection and snare the dashing defender.
The Sandringham Dragons back, who has been touted as a potential first rounder, joins the Bombers as a highly-rated ball user with a strong speed/endurance profile.

Welcome to another Archie.

Re: Welcome to Essendon. Archie Roberts.
Dunno. Was he touted in the top 25?
Re: Welcome to Essendon. Archie Roberts.
From an article in The Age in 2020…
Sheedy demanded he get picked - basically saying “you can’t pass up a kid who’s the grandson of the man who has stand named after him at Windy Hill”Essendon picked James with selection no.79 in the 1990 draft because injuries stopped him playing much representative junior footy across two years in the Teal Cup, the under 18 championships of the time.
James was essentially unsighted by recruiters given not many would have made the trip to the ACT to watch him play for Ainslie, according to long-time AFL talent spotter and recruiter Kevin Sheehan.

Roberts named in the team. 4 ins, 1 out. We'll see.
Good luck, congrats and go hard if you indeed make the cut!

He’s been super solid in all his games. Like the cut of his jib!
Re: Welcome to Essendon. Archie Roberts.
Has it really only been 3 games?
Geez. I count him as one of the few bright lights of the year.
Archie has been excellent. This kid will have a bright future.
