Funny that you say picks 8 & 27 are useful because it's a shallow draft - it's the same reason why I said we'd be better to trade out of this year - because everyone seems to be saying after pick 5 it's pointless. These can be used to promote rookies onto the main list - for example Menzie, Baldwin, Voss.
As it stands, we have: 4 spaces on senior list from retirements and delistings, and 1 space on the rookie list. The two spaces created by the delistings of Munkara and McBride don't count as they were both category B
We are also likely to lose another senior spot (BZT) and a rookie spot (MDA) ... these aren't confirmed until a deal is actually done (remember at the end of 2021, we were going to get Dunkley, but a deal couldn't be done... but it is very likely these two will go).
There is also the possibility of moving Shiel on as a trade from Gresham
So it is likely that we will have 7 spots, with 3 being reserved for Goldstein, McKay and Gresham. This leaves 4 spots without even cutting Voss or Shiel.
Even if we pick up Duursma in a trade for BZT, this leaves 3 spots for the draft. Currently our picks are 8, 27, 46, 63
Many pundits are arguing that this year is a shallow draft, so it is likely that 8 and 27 are useful, but it is also likely that picks will be traded as part of the BZT deal.
Goldstein, McKay and Gresham are free or restricted free agents out of contract, so we don't have to trade for them.
It will all become clearer in a week or twos time.

Luamon Lual is a bit of an excitement machine. He is fast and a good and accurate kick and a 2-way runner. Can also play wing. Glad we got him. Was expected to go in top 30 (ESPN ranked him #26) and was featured in the AFL series "The Smokey". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfV5qV8i5kA. Was a Bulldogs academy product, but they didn't have the picks to match our bid (shows the dangers of trading out too many picks). Supposedly similar to Christian Salem or Changkuoth Jiath in style.
