Rumors and BS for the 2022 Trade Season

Post by s'dreams »

1. Apparently we are into Melbourne's Brayshaw (free agent) in a big way and have already met with him. I hear he is mighty impressed with the hangar and the casualty ward.

2. The giants have totally stuffed up their payroll ($ million deals to Kelly & Coniglio, and $900K+ to Greene, Whitfield and Haynes) and have to offload players. Hopper, Tarantino, Hill and Bruhn are expected to go. Hopper has been offered big deals from Rich and Geel, Tarintino is being courted by Coll and Rich. We were into Hill last year, but got shut down by the GWS President (if I remember).

3. De Goey has cracked the shits after being told off by Collingwood after the Bali thing, so is looking elsewhere (it must be great to be managed by your brother and Dad). Saints and Geel have supposedly met with him. I think buyer beware with Jordy.

Hasn't he been playing that position the last 2 seasons?
Though, from what I've read, we're interested in him as a midfielder. Personally I don't consider him a 'big bodied' mid that everyone's clamouring for.

We're also into Brayshaw's team-mate Toby Bedford apparently - a small forward type.

Thought we would just try again for Bobby Hill from GWS

Yeah, I know, but don't we always recruit hbfers? ;)

I`m wondering if we should take a look at Matt Crouch, for that instant 'big bodied' mid we are screaming out for?.

Apparently not happy at the Crows any more?. Is he too old?, too past it?. I don`t think so. :-k

That's a No from me.
And, again for those at the back - we don't need a big bodied mid. We're doing just fine at clearances without one. I'd rather we looked for a big KP defender, or a smallish forward, or even a CHF.

Well Brayshaw is off the table. He signed a 6 year deal with Melb at less than we were offering.

So I guess his manager managed to extract some extra sugar from Melb to get the deal done.

Glad to be of service.

We have offered Heppell a one year contract extension.

Gold Coast have offered him a two year contract.

Hepp is said to be considering his situation.

It does mean that either way, Hepp is unlikely to be captain next year.

We would thankfully be rid of that dumb weekly podcast... That's almost good enough for me.

Our crying need is for midfielders who put their bodies on the line, don't cough up the ball and most importantly... put pressure on opponents in the midfield.

This will result in much less pressure being put on our backline and who knows ... maybe even more scoring opportunities.

Wouldn't hurt I guess, but not our most pressing need.

Defensive running mids?
Big bodied and tall defender x 2. A Glen Jakovich type.

Pick 4 in the draft. Must not waste.

Conor McKenna is headed back to play AFL, but not with us.

Geelong touted as front runner with Carlton being typical Carlton and waving theircheque book around

Franger Francis has requested a trade. He ain’t happy in our miserable environment. Let him go home.

Not sure what we could get in return. Possible 3rd round pick?

We shouldn't have to give our 3rd round pick.

Just give him up for free

FYI.

Players out of contract at EFC are:
Kaine Baldwin
Cory Brand
Joshua Eyre
Aaron Francis
Brayden Ham
Dyson Heppell *
Cian McBride
Jye Menzie
James Stewart
Alec Waterman *
(* = unrestricted free agent)

IMO, only Stewart and Menzie are non-negotiable re-signings
Baldwin, Brand and Eyre should get another 1 year so the new coach etc gets a look at them and can make a decision.
